Demo rip

Rip one before you pay for one.

No wallet. No email. No payment.
Same odds table, same beacon, same maths.

The demo runs tonight’s counters against a drand round that has already closed. You get the full sequence — the sealed pack, the round it points at, the reveal, the floor value of what came out. What you do not get is a card, because nothing was paid for and nothing was minted. It is the shop with the price removed, not the shop with the numbers removed.

Demo rips settle from a completed round and a frozen copy of the live counters. Nothing mints, nothing ships, nothing is charged. Rip it as many times as you like.

Odds by tier

We publish stock, not percentages.

Seven Legendary cards left out of a thousand is a number you can count. A percentage is a number you have to take our word for.

The odds are a readout of the vault, not a table we wrote. Every card in the pool is a graded slab with a cert number, a published floor value and a tier. Add a card and the counter moves. Pull a card and the counter moves the other way. The snapshot the contract used to price your pack is written on chain before payment clears, so the distribution you bought into can be read back afterwards, line by line.

A rarity table is a claim. A counter is a receipt.

A reveal lands on one index out of 10,000. Your tier is the band the index falls in — the same bands the recompute panel prints.

Counters update as cards enter and leave the vault. The snapshot attached to your pack does not.

Pull cooldown: a slab you pulled today sits out of your draws for 24 hours, so the same card cannot land on you twice in a day.

Every pack contains at least one card. There is no empty outcome.

How a reveal is settled

Three steps, and we control none of the middle one.

Most shops draw on their own server. Some draw in your browser with Math.random(). Either way the result exists before you see it, and whoever owns the machine can run it again.

  1. 01 / CommitInside our perimeter

Sealed to a round that has not happened yet.

At checkout the contract writes down three things: the odds snapshot, the vault inventory it was derived from, and the number of a future drand round.

At that moment the outcome does not exist — not on our servers, not anywhere.

Round number sealed, outcome not yet defined

  2. 02 / BeaconOutside our perimeter

The number comes from outside this building.

On schedule, roughly 16 independent organisations jointly produce one signed random value. The network is drand quicknet and its schedule is fixed at one round every three seconds. No single participant can steer it, and no participant is us.

The BLS signature is checked on chain before it settles anything, so a forged round simply fails.

Signed value returns, signature checked on chain

  3. 03 / RevealInside our perimeter

Anyone can open it. Including you.

Relaying the round is permissionless: if we go quiet, you post the beacon yourself and open your own pack. The reveal prints the two adjacent entries in the table and the exact distance in the beacon output, so the placement can be recomputed by a stranger.

No re-rolls, for anyone. There is no mechanism for one.

The placement digest is SHA-256 over the commit, the round number and the beacon output, in that order, joined by colons. The index is the first six bytes of that digest read as one big-endian integer, mod 10,000 — the band it falls in is your tier. Two ways to get the digest, and they have to agree.

Physical redemption

The card can leave the vault.

Redeem the token and the slab is couriered to your door in 31 countries. Most holders never do. The option is the point.

Coldfoil

Order of operations

  1. 01 / Redeem

Open the card in your collection and press Redeem. Enter the delivery address. The token is locked at that moment so the same card cannot be sold twice.

  2. 02 / Burn

The token is burned on chain. That burn is the receipt: it is what proves the slab left the pool rather than being quietly re-shelved.

  3. 03 / Pack

The slab is pulled from storage, photographed against the cert number, sleeved, boxed and insured for its published floor value.

  4. 04 / Ship

Tracked courier, signature required. Tracking lands in your account and by email within 5 business days of the redemption.

Charges and duty

Shipping $19 per parcel. Multiple cards to one address ship together at no extra cost.

Import duty and local tax are the recipient’s responsibility. Customs value is the published floor value.

After the reveal

Three things you can do with a card.

Hold the token, ship the slab, or take the buyback offer. You pick after you see what you pulled, not before.

  1. Option 01 / 03

    Hold

The token sits in your wallet, the slab sits in the vault, and neither costs you anything to keep. Transferable to anyone at any time; the redemption right travels with it.

    Keep it in the vault
  2. Option 02 / 03

    Ship

Burn the token, take the physical card. 31 countries, insured to the published floor value, tracked and signed for.

  3. Option 03 / 03

    Sell back

Sell the card back to Coldfoil at the buyback offer shown on the card. Settlement in 24 hours, no listing, no counterparty to find. The buyback offer is discretionary: it is priced when it is made, and it may be reduced, paused or withdrawn.

Straight answers

Straight answers, before you buy.

The uncomfortable ones are near the top on purpose.

01Where do the odds come from, and can I check them?

They are a readout of the vault, not a table we wrote. Every card carries a tier, a cert number and a published floor value, and the counter next to each tier is the literal number of slabs left — Legendary: 7 / 1,000 remaining, not a percentage. The snapshot used to price your pack is written on chain before payment clears, so you can read the exact distribution you bought into, and read it again afterwards. Add a card and the counter moves. Pull one and it moves back.

02What actually decides my reveal?

A drand round. drand is a public randomness beacon produced on a fixed schedule by a network of roughly 16 independent organisations working together; no single one of them can steer the output, and none of them is us. Your pack is committed to a round number before that round exists. When it lands, the round’s signature is verified on chain and the reveal is computed from it. Relaying the round is permissionless — you can post it yourself and open your own pack. There are no re-rolls, for anyone, including us.

03How is this different from a game of chance?

Every pack contains at least one graded card — there is no empty outcome, and the guaranteed floor value of the pack is published before you pay. What varies is which card, inside a set of value tiers that are fully disclosed with live counters. It is a probability-based model over disclosed inventory, with a printed expected value and a printed markup of 4% to 15%. We say plainly that most packs open below their purchase price, because that is what a markup means. If what you want is a specific card, buy that card on the secondary market instead; a pack is the wrong instrument for it.

04Can I lose money on a pack?

Yes. A pack is priced at the expected value of its contents plus a fixed markup of 4% to 15%, which means the typical pack opens below what you paid for it. The published guaranteed floor value is your downside, not your baseline. Both numbers — floor value and expected value — are printed on the pack before you pay, and the demo lets you see the distribution before any of your money is involved.

05What happens between paying and opening?

Your pack mints as a token and stays sealed. Nothing is decided at checkout. When you are ready, you arm the pack to a future drand round; until then the sealed pack is an ordinary token and you can transfer or resell it unopened. Arming is the one-way step: once a pack points at a round, that round decides it, and anyone can open it. The reveal prints the two adjacent entries in the table and the exact distance in the beacon output, so a stranger can recompute the placement.

06How do I get the physical card, and where do you ship?

Press Redeem, enter an address, and the token is burned on chain — that burn is the proof the slab left the pool. The card is pulled from storage in its sealed PSA or BGS holder, photographed against the cert number, double-boxed, insured to its published floor value, and sent by tracked signature-required courier. We ship to 31 countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Japan and Australia. Dispatch within 5 business days of the redemption. Import duty and local tax are the recipient’s responsibility.

07Can you buy the card back from me?

Usually, and it is an offer rather than a promise. Each card shows a buyback offer with a price and a validity period; accept it and settlement lands in 24 hours with no listing and no counterparty to find. Buyback offers are discretionary: they are priced when they are made, and they may be reduced, paused or withdrawn. If there is no offer on your card at a given moment, you can still hold the token or redeem the slab and ship it.

08Who holds the cards, and what if the site stops trading?

The slabs sit with the custodian named in the Vault section above, insured to the value published there, one card in storage for every token in circulation. No lending, no pooling. Inventory is reconciled against on-chain supply on the schedule published in the same section, and every reconciliation is published.

Redemption runs against the contract, not against our front end: if the site goes dark, the redemption path and the custody agreement are what stand, and both are in the docs.
